The undefeated Chinese heavyweight, who lost to eventual gold medallist Anthony Joshua at the 2012 Olympics and has sought revenge ever since, was hoping to progress into a “step up” against a “big name”.
“I love Farrakhan,” Tyson said, according to The Chicago Tribune. “People differ with Mr. Farrakhan because they are afraid the minister can control somebody’s thinking, just like people in the media control the thinking of people. They feel now they have to compete with somebody for the minds of these people. He makes them uneasy.”
Parker needed a few moments to gather himself as he shook loose the cobwebs to restart the action before the end of the 10 count. Sadly, Zhang’s reaction to his second knockdown was much like the first where he just wouldn’t engage and never really let his hands go.
Tyson’s face tattoo has sparked countless conversations, debates, and even controversy. It challenges the status quo and invites people to question their own perceptions of beauty and self-expression.

9:12pm BST/5:12pm ET: That’s something for the admirably durable Dovbyshchenko to tell the grandchildren about one day as he battles to the final bell without suffering a knockdown. Itauma seemed to enjoy the chance to showcase his skills, never really pushing for the stoppage until the final seconds. It’s still hard to tell against an opponent of limited ambition, but Itauma absolutely looks to the real deal – a beautifully well-rounded boxer who lives up to the sparring stories that are already the stuff of legend. Remember the name.
“A week later he fought and knocked out Clifford in one round and I was upset. I was happy for Mike that he won, but I was also upset that I had trained him for eight weeks and I wasn’t a part of that win.”
While Tyson once joked on Twitter about getting the tattoo removed, it’s become a part of his identity. “A lot of stuff happened out of this tattoo, a lot of good stuff,” he told Sports Illustrated in 2016. “Other young athletes come to me and said, It’s because of you they call it the Mike Tyson.”
Meaning: Tyson wants to carry on his body, the memories of his spiritual heroes, and that’s why, after the two communist leaders, he got the portrait of the less known ‘Arthur Ashe’ who was a popular tennis champion, also well known for his efforts to important social causes and the founder of the ‘Arthur Ashe Foundation’ for the defeat of AIDS. His portrait and the words ‘days of grace’ are tattooed on Tyson’s left shoulder.

8:15pm BST/4:15pm ET: Hello and welcome to The Sporting News’ live ringside coverage of the heavyweight collision between Joe Joyce and Zhilei Zhang. The undercard is underway and we’ll recap the best of the action shortly. Expect the two big men to be in the ring around two hours from now.
8:45pm BST/4:45pm ET: Don’t be surprised if that theme continues next. There’s a buzz around the arena and the bars are emptying because teenage heavyweight sensation Moses Itauma is entering the ring. He’s doing so to “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross (all-time banger!) and it’s fair to say we haven’t quite seen enough of him as a pro so far. His two contests in the paid ranks have clocked at under a minute combined. Facing the 18-year-old tonight is Ukranian slugger Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko, who has lost 12 times in 22 contests but never been stopped. We’re scheduled for six.
On January 3, 2022, the IBF sent an invitation to Hrgović and Luis Ortiz to enter talks for a final title eliminator. Hrgović immediately accepted the offer, with his promoters stating: “Challenge accepted by Filip Hrgovic, days and counting for Luis Ortiz to accept”. Ortiz refused, citing inability to compete due to injury. The IBF then invited the next highest ranked heavyweight contender, Joseph Parker, to enter talks for a title eliminator bout. Parker refused to enter talks as well, due to recovering from injuries. On January 10, the same invitation was extended to Tony Yoka. Yoka accepted the offer on January 13. The fight was supposed to be a rematch of their 2016 Summer Olympics semi-final bout, which Yoka narrowly won on points. The IBF later ruled Yoka ineligible to enter an agreement with any opponent other than Martin Bakole, as the two had already signed contracts to face each other. On January 26, both Andy Ruiz Jr. and Murat Gassiev received invitations to enter into negotiations with Hrgović, which they refused five days later, citing lingering injuries as the reason for refusal. On February 7, it was revealed that the #13 ranked Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang had accepted the invitation to enter into negotiations with Hrgović.
